hi, I’m Riley!
I live very deeply in both my mind and my heart — I think a lot and I feel a lot.
I'm both right-brained and left-brained, balancing practicality and ambition with empathy and creativity. I am both introverted and extroverted, enjoying introspective time alone, but I am also deeply fulfilled being around others. What I value most is seeking deep understanding, personal growth, and creating meaningful connections with others. I’m best known for my laugh. I laugh loudly and I laugh often.
Why Money Coaching?
I, like many people in their 20s and early 30s, didn’t always have the best money practices.
Yet , becoming a single mom created a shift for me that ushered me into a place of seeking financial stability. I got myself out of debt. Created a budget that I (mostly) stuck to. Paid cash for my dream vacation to Bali. I even bought a house (something that I honestly didn’t think would happen for another 10 or 20 years).
I really thought I had mastered my money
…and then I got married.
Don’t get me wrong. I love my husband. Dearly. He is my absolute favorite person in the world. But he’s not exactly Dave Ramsey, and when it came to having conversations about money, things were no bueno, to say the least.
We went through several financial coaches and financial advisors, and no one was getting to the root causes of our money issues. It wasn’t simply a matter of budgeting or retirement planning; the root of the problem lay in the deep emotional connections we had with money. We needed guidance to navigate these complex emotions that seemed to trigger each other’s reactions.
Money issues are very rarely about money itself. As Jane Monica-Jones says, “Money becomes both a conceptual maze and a tangible web that is loaded with our projections, our beliefs, hopes and fears.” Through my own healing journey, I discovered that my own struggles with anxiety, addiction, perfectionism, toxic romantic relationships, and codependency were all mirrored in my relationship with money.
Rooted Mindful Money was born out of my desire to provide what I myself was seeking – a space where individuals and couples could unravel the complexities of their financial lives. My intention is to help others navigate this tangled web so they can not only improve their relationship with money, but their relationship with themselves, others, and all other aspects of their lives.

My Money Philosophy
My personal money philosophy is rooted in the belief that money is a powerful tool that empowers us to pursue our dreams and enhance our overall well-being. The way we think and feel about money is intricately connected to our attitudes and beliefs regarding success, abundance, and self-worth.
Rather than trying to be controlling concerning money, I nurture a mindset of ease and flow. Money, being a form of energy, thrives when allowed to circulate freely. This doesn't imply reckless spending, but rather finding a balance that encourages mindful financial decisions while acknowledging that responsible choices can pave the way to financial abundance.
Ultimately, my philosophy encourages individuals to view money as a means of creating a life in alignment with their passions, values, and aspirations.
If the highlight of your day involves starting each morning with a visit to Starbucks to savor your beloved Iced Caramel Macchiato and exchange hellos with the baristas, I won't be the coach who insists you quit this habit. It's about finding a balance between indulging in the things that bring us joy and ensuring our financial well-being as a whole.
My Personal Top 3 Favorite Things to Spend Money On:
books
One of my fondest childhood memories is going every week to the library with my dad. I find immense joy in reading books. I’m always reading about 20 books at a time. Just ask my husband what my nightstand looks like!
massages
While I was in Bali, I got a massage every day. Sometimes two. You’d think they’d lose their effect, but nope. I love me a good massage.
plants
If you can’t tell…I love plants. A lot. My home is my sanctuary and plants bring me a profound sense of comfort and peace.
Ok, so I know I said three, but I just couldn’t cut this one from the list… gifts
If I was ever asked to cut anything from my budget, this would be the last to go. (Of course after my basic necessities!) I try to be super thoughtful in my gifts. It’s my way of showing those I love, “I see you. I hear you. I get you.”
